Day One - Miami Trip
Published On: Dec 11, 2006

In Miami, the weather is gorgeous the entire year, and one of its finest splendors is the beach. As soon as you arrive make it the first day activity on your trip. Keep in mind, the sun is fierce and you're going to need sunscreen. Don't just hit the sand and hope for the best.

Lunchtime
Next thing you know its time to eat. There are plenty of options, but here are some choices to consider first. The Blue Door at the Delano offers a serene setting that overlooks fanciful gardens accompanied by a giant chessboard. Try the crab and avocado salad. This place is usually jumping come nightfall also. Then there's the Nemo, located at the south end of South Beach. The giant oak tree is quite a spectacle, and if you're there on a Sunday, the brunch is spectacular.

A Leisurely Stroll
After you eat, go for a stroll along Collins Drive between 6th and 12th and check out all the designer shops. Then head back to your hotel, lounge by the pool and ease back with a margarita or tasty mojito.

Delicious Sandwiches
On the other hand, if you're feeling a bit more adventurous, there's always Garcia's Seafood Grill & Fish Market in the downtown area. The seafood sandwiches here are quite a treat. Once situated on the patio, you can take in a view of the vintage cargo docks, reminiscent of "Miami Vice."

A Cultural Adventure
Next up, cruise on over to Calle Ocho for a dollop of Little Havana. A great place to stop off here is Versailles. You can get a powerful dose of café cubano while you absorb the boisterous Cuban culture. Even if Spanish isn't your tongue, it's quite the experience nonetheless.

South Beach Dinner
As the evening ensues and you're getting ravenous once again, South Beach is the perfect spot for dinner. For steak lovers, Prime One Twelve offers a varietal selection accompanied by various choice martinis. For an eloquent dining experience there's the Madiba or the Vix. For those with heartily-stacked wallets, the Restaurant at the Setai is one of Miami's most exclusive dining experiences. Finally, the most popular spot of all just may be Joe's Stone Crab featuring none other than - the stone crab. This is one of Miami's signature dishes and if you've never had it - you've simply got to check it out.
