Captain's Tavern
9621 S Dixie Hwy
Miami, FL 33156
For over 25 years the Captain's Tavern has served up scrumptious seafood dishes to locals and visitors from afar. Caribbean and South American influences add just the right flavor for a delectable dining experience that's certainly worth your while.
The Décor
Inside you'll instantly notice the walls are decorated with a frenzy of nautical art and artifacts. As you meander in, the most intriguing attraction just may be the colorful saltwater aquariums along the walls.
The Scene
The great thing about this place is that you'll encounter people of all ages ranging from tiny toddlers to folks who have lived in Miami all their lives. This kind of adds a harmonious balance between locals and first time visitors. In fact, it isn't uncommon to see a family of three generations sitting next to a group of college kids sitting next to that couple that just flew in from New York.
On the Menu
Start off with the tasty conch fritters or possibly the conch chowder. These locally caught treats are certainly a delight. As for the rest of the menu, if you could sample it all that would be great, but you unfortunately you can't in just one trip. Let's face it, this place is tasty. For dinner, a few great selections include the Cataplana Seafood, chock full with fish simmered in a tomato sauce; and the Admiral's Platter, overflowing with scallops, shrimp, grilled fish and lobster - and don't forget to ask about the fish of the day.
