Combine Gloria and Emilio Estefan, the port of Miami, and Biscayne Bay and you will get a cuban style club that is worth the visit. Rising two stories above the plaza level of the American Airlines' sports arena, the cafe offers wonderful views of the port and Biscayne Bay. It also presents a stupendous view of the Miami skyline. The city's landscape can be spotted from miles away, revealed by the giant pineapple that graces the roof of the club. This pineapple has become a trademark of Bongos Cuban Cafe.
The restaurant and club are as close as it gets to the Tropicana, made infamous by the birth of the Babalu. This unique restaurant and club combines the traditional Cuban cuisine and the nostalgia of the 1950s to form a night club and restaurant that is definitely a winning addition to the Miami scene. The salsa theme ramped up a step is accompanied by the incorporation of a lot of Cuba. Cuban food, music and ambience give patrons a feel of being relocated to another place and time when they enter the front door.
Restaurant specialties include the Cubano, otherwise known as a Cuban sandwich. They also create a unique pork sandwich, called the Pan con Lechon. In the mood for seafood? Try the Paella de Mariscos. Not in the mood for a sandwich? Go for the specialty slow-roasted chicken marinated in orange and lime with herbs. Follow all of these with the traditional flan, a custard desert served in the Mediterranean.
In the mood for traditional salsa music and dancing? Just stick around Friday and Saturday nights and slip on your dancing shoes as this restaurant changes its clothes and becomes a night club. All 16,000 feet of the building converts from a restaurant to a disco complete with all the romance of Old Havana right here in Miami. Inaugurated in 2000, the club has hosted after parties for the Billboard Music Awards and the Premio Lo Nuestro as well as other special events.
Most Friday and Saturday nights, eager locals line up by 11 p.m. for entry into the club. The ambience is a mixture of traditional Havana and tantalizing Latin rhythms. Most first time visitors will be awed by the fascinating light show.
The Bongos Cuban Cafe is the ideal location for your next event. The Cafe is able to handle groups of up to 2,500 people, making this venue ideal for large events. They have packages for cocktail receptions, cordial and desert receptions as well as being able to set up your open bar or buffet events. Their Latin spirited staff can also assist with planned menus and live entertainment on request. Whether you are planning your next corporate appreciation event or the next family anniversary party, they are sure to to help. Even if your party is less than the corporation and you just want to plan the 15 or 20 people event, then contact the club for catering, party prices and reservation.
The Estefans have showcased their rich Cuban culture and shared it with the rest of the world, and with great success.
