While you are in the Miami area why not check out the houses of the stars. Miami Duck Tours is one of the most unique tours in the city. It starts on land in South Beach looking at the sights of Collins Ave and Washington Ave including Lincoln Road Mall and the Versace Mansion. You get a very different look at Ocean Drive and the Art Deco district.
The whole time that you are on land you become part of the diversity that makes Miami Beach special. You are driving down a major road in an Amphibious Vehicle that's painted yellow with a large duck on it, even for South Beach that's unusual.
But you get to see the different architectural differences that have made South Beach what it is today. The Versace Mansion was the home of the famous designer that tragically lost his life to an intruder a few years ago.
Collins and Washington Avenues are full of Galleries, specialty shops, restaurants and Clubs that all together make South Beach what it is, a great destination site.
Now you have seen South Beach as you ride in the Duck Tour vehicle and seconds latter you are driving down a boat ramp into the blue, clear waters of Florida's Biscayne Bay. Now you are floating in a boat heading across three or four miles of open bay.
Biscayne Bay is protected in the area that you will be riding in by the Island of Miami Beach on one side and mainland Miami on the other. You look off to the side and you see in the distance the luxurious houses or the rich and famous. Maybe you saw Cribs and Shaq's house, well you are about to see it. Many of the musicians and actors that make Miami their home have houses on these Islands.
Looking south you see the Port of Miami with its cruise ships, Watson Island (with the new facility for Parrot Jungle), the Freedom Tower and the Flagler Memorial. All of these things are individually sites to see on their own but here you get to see every thing at once.
The home of the Championship Miami Heat, the American Airlines Arena is also featured on the tour. You also get to see how the rich and famous live, with tours of Star Island, Hibiscus Island and Palm Island are all shown with famous houses pointed out.
Millionaires Row as well as Yachts and marinas, some of which were made famous during the filming of movies such as Bad Boys I & II, Miami Vice, CSI Miami, all of these films and TV shows make full use of the resources that Biscayne Bay has to offer.
For ninety minutes you get to see the best that Miami has to offer. If you are on the Bay during an especially clear day you can also see our protected Manatees as the feed in the center portion of the Bay. You also have a good chance of seeing wild bottlenose dolphins as they feed on the bait fish that live in the grass flats in the area.
By going on the Miami Duck Tour you are doing your best to take full advantage of all that South Florida has to offer. It is a special type of tour that is guaranteed to thrill you, to educate you and to make you know why so many people choose to live here.
Enjoy Miami and tell your friends about the tour, also take a lot of pictures and sunscreen.
